Our national day undoubtedly means many things to different people. For some, it marks the arrival of British settlers and the subsequent displacement of Indigenous Australians. For others, it is a chance to celebrate with a BBQ at the beach with our friends and families. For me, Australia Day is an opportunity to give thanks to the country that welcomed my family and I with open arms all those years ago. I will never forget where I came from or my cultural heritage, but I will always call Australia home.
Wherever in the world you are and however you may be celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful Australia Day.
